Oh mon amour adieu !”
Ôi vĩnh biệt em yêu !”

When I was a child , in the evening , my mother used to sing for us
The story of a missing boat and a white bird .
One day the boat left straight to the ocean (1)
And alone , a girl whose heart was filled with love started waiting .
Le marin lui a dit : “n´oublie pas je t´aime”.
The sailor had already told her : “don’t forget I love you” .
Winter was gone and Spring came , and she waited and waited .
She saw a white bird coming and perching on her side . (2)
It brought about some words beneath its wings :
“Adieu The Dove , adieu you , the one I love . (3)
Ma vie s´en va mais n´aie pas trop de peine .
My life is gone but not in too much pain . (4)
Oh mon amour adieu !”
Oh my love ! adieu .”
“Adieu The Dove , adieu you , the one I love .
Ma vie s´en va mais n´aie pas trop de peine .
My life is gone but not in too much pain .
Oh mon amour adieu !”
Oh my love ! adieu .”
She took the beautiful white bird with her broken heart .
They both left again straight to the ocean . (5)
Love never dies , I saw two doves (6)
Flying away to the sea and the night coming up .

“Adieu The Dove , adieu you , the one I love .
Ma vie s´en va mais n´aie pas trop de peine .
My life is gone but not in too much pain .
Oh mon amour adieu !”
Oh my love ! adieu .”
“Adieu The Dove , adieu you , the one I love .
Ma vie s´en va mais n´aie pas trop de peine .
My life is gone but not in too much pain .
Oh mon amour adieu !”
Oh my love ! adieu .”

Translation into plain English by Khai Phi Hanh Nguyen from the French lyrics by Pierre Delanoé.

(1) The story of a missing boat and a white bird gets started at this sentence .
(2) In the old days , before getting on the boat to travel in the ocean , Man brought along with him doves so in case of something would happen he could use a bird to send a message to his beloved .
(3) The sailor called his lover The Dove .
(4) Dying on a sinking boat is quick so it is not in too much pain .
(5) This sentence means the girl brought the dove along with her to the sea where she released it and drowned herself when the night came up .
(6) The words “two doves” refer to the dove and the girl who was called The Dove by her sailor lover .
